Banning Telegram won’t end paper leaks, says Arvind Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal criticised the government’s decision to temporarily ban Telegram, stating that such measures will not solve the recurring issue of examination paper leaks.
In a video message posted on X, Kejriwal said that blocking messaging platforms is not an effective solution and accused authorities of failing to address the root causes of the problem.
He alleged that the paper leak industry is worth billions of rupees and claimed that large sums generated through such networks reach influential individuals. Kejriwal further stated that funds from such activities are being used for political purposes, including influencing legislators.
The former Delhi Chief Minister said paper leaks will continue unless systemic reforms are introduced and called for collective public pressure to demand accountability and structural change. He emphasised that only comprehensive reforms in the system can permanently resolve the issue.
The remarks come amid ongoing debates over exam security and digital platform restrictions in India following concerns over repeated paper leak incidents.
