Atal Canteen, 50 U-Special buses announced for Delhi University

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday announced that an Atal Canteen will be inaugurated at the Delhi University campus on August 16, where students will receive nutritious meals for Rs 5. In addition, CM said that 50 new U-Special bus routes will soon be introduced for the university while attending the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College as the chief guest.
Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh, College Principal Prof Arun Kumar Atri, and several eminent members of the academic community attended the event. A virtual tour showcasing the college’s 60-year journey was presented, and the Chief Minister unveiled the year-long Diamond Jubilee events calendar and a QR code for the college’s digital archives.
Congratulating the college on completing six decades, the Chief Minister said Shaheed Bhagat Singh College has nurtured students with quality education, discipline, and the values of nation-building while instilling the spirit of Nation First. She said the progress of any nation depends on the strength of its youth and the quality of its education system, and institutions like this college play a vital role in shaping the country’s future.
The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government is strengthening schools and educational institutions across the capital with better infrastructure, smart classrooms, modern laboratories, and advanced technological facilities, in line with the National Education Policy’s historic reforms.
On new announcements, the Chief Minister said the government is also considering developing hostel facilities for Delhi University students at the proposed new campus of Indira Gandhi University.
She said the Government is giving special attention to improving educational infrastructure and hostel facilities to develop Delhi as a global education hub.
