Arunachal's Boleng to host Asian Rafting Championships 2026 in October

Boleng in Arunachal Pradesh's Siang district will host the Asian Rafting Championships 2026 from Oct. 5 to 9, marking a major international sporting event expected to boost the state's adventure tourism profile.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Ojing Tasing held separate high-level meetings with sports officials to review preparations for the five-day championship.
In a post on X, Khandu said the event would provide an opportunity to showcase Arunachal Pradesh's rivers, natural landscapes, adventure sports potential and hospitality to an international audience.
Tasing, who represents Boleng in the Assembly, said the championship would help establish Arunachal Pradesh as a leading destination for white-water sports and adventure tourism in Asia.
"The championship presents a remarkable opportunity to position Arunachal Pradesh as a leading tourism and adventure sports destination, showcasing our world-class river systems and breathtaking natural landscapes to the international community," he said.
The championship will feature top paddlers from across Asia competing on the Simang River, a tributary of the Siang River that flows through the Siang Valley in Boleng.
