Abhishek Banerjee to face CID questioning again in West Bengal signature forgery case

Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the West Bengal CID on June 14 as part of the ongoing investigation into an alleged signature forgery case involving party MLAs.
The questioning is being conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to examine claims that signatures on an official party document were forged.
The case revolves around a letter submitted to the Assembly Secretariat that reportedly contained the signatures of several TMC legislators.
Later, allegations emerged that some of those signatures may have been forged or included without proper authorization, prompting a formal complaint and a CID investigation.
Banerjee had already been questioned for more than five hours earlier this week and was summoned again after investigators sought further clarification on certain aspects of the case.
Reports suggest that CID officials are attempting to establish the authenticity of the signatures and the circumstances under which the document was prepared and submitted.
While Banerjee has denied any wrongdoing and stated that he is fully cooperating with investigators, the case has intensified the political confrontation in West Bengal.
The outcome of the probe is expected to have significant political implications as authorities continue to examine the allegations.
