Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana received a threatening audio message from a man claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with the sender demanding crores of rupees, Mumbai Police sources told media on Wednesday.

Police are trying to verify the sender's identity, the sources said. Investigators are matching the voice in the audio clip against a sample from the suspected sender, whose name is already in police records, according to the report.

No formal complaint or FIR has been confirmed on record by Mumbai Police as of this report. The Pioneer could not independently verify the audio clip or the sender's claimed gang link.

The development comes a day after actor Tusshar Kapoor received a Rs 5 crore extortion threat from a man claiming links to the same gang, a case The Pioneer reported on Tuesday. Bollywood figures including Salman Khan have previously received threats linked to the Bishnoi network, which has claimed responsibility for extortion calls to several public figures over the past few years.
