A 43-year-old man was allegedly thrashed to death by a youth and his friends on the premises of Keshavpuram police station in the wee hours of Wednesday. Two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) have been suspended.

The deceased, Kulbhushan Chaturvedi had an argument over parking with the youth on Tuesday. Police said the incident started on Tuesday morning as a minor scuffle between Rushit and Chaturvedi over parking.

However, with the intervention of locals, their fight was resolved. But at night, Rushit allegedly in an inebriated state, started yelling on the street at a person. When Chaturvedi objected to it, they again got into a fight.

At around 11:45pm, a PCR call was made to the Keshavpuram police about a quarrel at Tri Nagar old bus stand. "Police took both the parties involved to the police station for investigation, where Rushit (16) alleged that he was beaten by Chaturvedi therefore, he needs  medical examination. On seeing the gravity of the wounds on Chaturvedi, the Investigating Officer, ASI Krishan Chander requested Chaturvedi to also go for medical examination but he refused," said police officer.

The officer said at around 12.52 am MlC of Rushit was conducted. Then at around 1.20 am, Rushit reached back to police station after MlC. There were about 20 persons from both sides who were busy in compromise.  At 1.30 am, Chaturvedi complained of chest pain and he was given water. The public present there  took him to Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh. Chaturvedi died 30 minutes later after reaching hospital at around 2 am. ASI Krishan Chander and Buhjhveer Singh have been placed under suspension.

A case under Section 304 IPC has been registered on the complaint of brother of Chaturvedi. The case has been transferred to Crime Branch.
