A 22-year-old youth was allegedly thrashed by a group of 25 people for stalking and pestering a 15-year-old girl for marriage. The incident took place in North-West Delhi's Wazirpur industrial area on Wednesday afternoon. Milind Dumbere, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west) said that they received a complaint from the young woman over the issue and registered a case under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Ashok Vihar police station.

Police said that the incident took place around 3:30 pm near the Udham Singh Park area when Dhirendra (22) was caught red handed by the mother of the girl in her house. “The teenaged girl informed her mother that Dhirendra had been stalking her for the past several months. On finding the girl alone at home, Dhirendra entered her house and started harassing her again,” said a senior police officer. The girl's mother, who works at a nearby factory came home on Wednesday afternoon and found that Dhirendra was pestering her daughter to marry him. She caught him and called her neighbours.

A group of 25 people from the  Wazirpur Industrial area caught the man and started thrashing him, added the police officer. The locals then handed Dhirendra over to the police.

An investigation is underway in the matter and police are in the process of registering a case against the youth.
