A 22-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a 25-year-old woman on Friday. The accused abducted the woman from Millennium Depot Sarai Kale Khan, and then threw her out of the car near UP gate the same day after assaulting her with a glass bottle and robbing her phone, police said.
The accused was identified as Ram Kaushik (22) and he was arrested from Meerut in a white Swift Dzire. The woman’s mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
According to police, information was received at 1 am on Saturday at Sunlight Colony police station from Max Hospital in Ghaziabad regarding the admission of a 25-year-old woman with physical assault. It was revealed that she was admitted at 4 pm on Friday.
“Police team immediately reached the hospital and the patient stated that she was thrown out from the car near UP gate by an unknown person and she sustained grievous injury,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal stated.
“During investigation, victim stated that she works as sanitation worker at Commonwealth Games Village, Akshardham. Her mother also works as sanitation worker at public toilet at IP Park. On Friday, since her mother was not well, her sister went to IP Park to perform her duties,” DCP stated.
According to police, in the afternoon, when the victim brought her sister lunch, the accused kidnapped her.
“During the interrogation of the accused person, he revealed that he had visited IP Park before and had noticed the mother of the 25-year-old woman working as a sanitation worker. He approached the victim and tried to gain familiarity, saying that he knows her mother and he can drop her at her place,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal stated.
“On confirming from her mother and on her mother saying that she doesn’t know the accused, victim refused to go with him. Accused got furious and he started following the woman in his car and when she reached Millennium Depot, he forcibly put her in his car. On the way, accused tried to harass the victim, which she resisted.
Thereafter, accused assaulted her with glass bottle and even robbed her mobile. He then threw her out of the vehicle,” said the DCP.
