Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain on Friday directed the Forest Department to ascertain the facts on sighting of leopard in Yamuna biodiversity park. In a meeting with additional principal forests and chief wildlife warden, the Minister said after ascertaining the relevant facts efforts should be made to catch the leopard alive with the help of central zoo authority.
Hussain said sighting of wild cats is a good indicator of quality forest area, but expressed his concern that lack of security measures may pose danger to people residing in nearby areas.
AK Shukla, chief wildlife warden, said two wildlife inspectors have been deputed to inspect the area for finding the pug marks for actual assessment of age of the leopard, if available.
He talked about placing the cage at appropriate place with bait once the location of the animal is identified.
