Yadav accuses Meena of threatening him

The turf war between two ‘Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chiefs’ on Friday reached the doorstep of Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi with Additional Commissioner of Police SS Yadav filing a complaint against Joint Commissioner of Police MK Meena. According to reports, Yadav has written a letter to the Delhi Government complaining that Meena allegedly threatened him with dire consequences after he refused to share details of some sensitive FIRs.
Bassi summoned both the ACB chiefs — one appointed by lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and another by Kejriwal led AAP Government — in his office and tried to resolve the issue. In a related development, Delhi’s Government’s Department of Vigilance, which comes under Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, has forwarded Yadav’s complaint to the lieutenant Governor and the Delhi Police Commissioner.
Meanwhile, senior police officers at police headquarters said that Yadav should obey the orders of Meena who is the Anti-Corruption Branch Chief. Yadav has violated rule by keeping the FIR register with him as that is the sole property of the SHO of ACB Police station. A senior officer can see the register but cannot take it away from the police station, they said.
Yadav after meeting Bassi, said that he has put his stand before him. “Whatever news is coming against me are fake. My fight against corruption will continue. I have put my stand before Bassi,” Yadav said. The fight over post of ACB chief has been continuing since the appointment of Meena as head of the ACB earlier this month by the lG. Soon after Meena’s appointment, Yadav, who was heading the ACB, had objected to the order and wrote a letter to the Vigilance Department of Delhi Government.
A few days later, a retired Delhi Police inspector had filed a corruption case against Meena. However, the Delhi Police dismissed the charge as ‘baseless’ after a probe. Meena, later, had issued an order stating that no administrative work will be done without his and lt Governor Najeeb Jung’s consent.
In his letter to the Delhi Government on Wednesday, Yadav said, “Meena, who has been entering and occupying a room in ACB in unauthorised manner, called me up on the late evening hours and asked me about the FIR book. He threatened me that FIR book should be handed over to him as he wants to show it to some top authorities and take it out of ACB police station.”
In the letter, Yadav also said that Meena may try to break open his office as he is keeping a section of armed (CRPF) personnel in an unauthorised and illegal manner in the ACB headquarters. Soon after Yadav’s complaint, Meena issued another one line order to the ACB police stating: “You are hereby directed to keep the FIR book in the police station, Anti-Corruption Branch, immediately.” Police Commissioner BS Bassi summoned both the officers separately in his office on Friday and tried to sort out the problem. Meena, reportedly went to visit Jung as well in the late evening.
