Writ petition in HC challenges recruitment process at IP University

Published on:

The Delhi High court on Tuesday admitted a writ petition challenging the ongoing faculty recruitment process at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in the Capital.

Pointing out at recent advertisements by the university for the purpose of recruitments, the petitioners alleged that the ads for the post of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor are “arbitrary and illegal.”

The petition contended that, both reserved candidates and unreserved candidates are meted out injustice by the manner in which the “recruitment advertisement has provided 100 per cent reservation at the Assistant Professor level and zero reservation at the Associate and Professor level. Only one post was reserved for physically handicapped, that too within the 36 posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC, which means a general candidate with physical disability can’t even apply for Assistant Professor.”
