The Capital is battling the worst dengue outbreak with total number of cases snowballing to 7,606 along with 25 deaths, the highest since 1996. According to municipal corporation data released on Monday, around 1120 fresh cases were registered this week even as no new deaths were recorded. In year 1996, around 10,252 dengue cases along with 423 deaths were recorded which had created a havoc in the city. Amid hue and cry, MCD’s tall claims of carrying out fumigation programmes have gone down the drain as the unofficial figures are much higher.
