A 30-year-old woman staged a kidnapping drama of her three-year-old daughter in search of her missing husband. Investigations by the staff of Saket police station of South district revealed that the woman’s husband had left her and her daughter, a month ago. Angry at being left by her husband, she wanted to teach her estranged husband a lesson by accusing him of her daughter’s kidnapping. Police are now planning to lodge a case against the woman for misleading the Government machinery on false pretext.
The matter came to fore on Wednesday morning when a woman identified as Simran, hailing from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh made a PCR call informing that her three years old daughter has been kidnapped by unidentified persons from outside Saket
Metro station. A police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) Ranbir Singh from the local police station immediately rushed to spot and spotted Simran crying for her baby.
“She told us that her baby has been kidnapped by two persons and one of them appeared as her estranged husband. He came on an Apache motorcycle while she was waiting for an auto outside the metro station. More teams were constituted and were tasked to track the Apache mortorycle in the area. A message was also flashed on the wireless and informed the other district polices to nab the bikers and recovered the baby,” said a police officer.
The woman was taken to the police station and she was thoroughly counseled. A case of abduction was also registered at Saket police station.
During investigations, Simran’s statement was found to be at variance as she failed to corroborate the sequence of the event. Police managed to trace her male friend who told the police that he had dropped Simran and her daughter at New Delhi railway station a few days ago. He said she had boarded the train for Allahabad. “A police team was sent to Allahabad and the girl was recovered from Simran’s mother home there,” said the officer.
With the help of a woman staff, Simran was questioned thoroughly and she disclosed the whole story. She said that her husband, who is a conductor with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) had left her a few months ago. She wanted to teach him a lesson as he was not coming back despite her repeated requests. She left her daughter in Allahabad at her parental residence and came back to Delhi to inform the police about her daughter’s kidnapping by her husband, a police official said.
