The Gurugram police on Tuesday arrested one more person accused of thrashing a 22-year-old woman raping her in front of her husband and relatives on Sunday night. Four people were already been arrested in the case on Monday.
The family was returning from a party in the woman’s brother-in-law’s car when they stopped near the Business Park Tower in Sector 57. The woman’s husband got out of the car to relieve himself.
At that moment two cars stopped near them and five men, apparently drunk, came out and asked why they had stopped there. They started thrashing the woman’s husband. While one of them raped her and the other men thrashed other occupants of the car.
later the woman, from a village in South Dinajpur district in West Bengal and now living in South City -1 area of Gurugram, filed an FIR against the five unknown men.
According to police, the victim alleged that when her husband and brother-in-law stopped the car suddenly two more cars stopped there and five men started an argument with his relatives and husband. “I sat scared on my seat when one of them spotted me and charged at me. He dragged me out and took me to nearby bushes and raped me,” said police.
Before running away, the men warned the woman and her family if they reported the matter to police,” she said in her complaint. The woman’s husband managed to note down the registration number of one of the cars, police said.
As per the complaint, an FIR had been registered under section 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified accused at Sector 56 police station. No weapon was used during the crime, the police said.
“Based on the registration number of car that police nabbed all five accused identified as Sanjeet (22), who raped the victim, Pawan Sharma (24) a resident of village Tigra, Dharmender (25), Deshveer (23) and Pawan (26), who thrashed her husband and brother-in-law all from a village close to Sohna.
