Woman 'raped' by live-in mate, cronies; records statement before magistrate

A 25-year-old woman, who accused her former live-in partner and his three friends of gang-raping her, on Thursday, recorded her statement before the magistrate. “Victim on Thursday recorded her statement under Section 164 before the court here,” said a senior police officer investigating the case. Besides, police questioned victim and her friend for two hours at Indirapuram police station. “Police are now going through investigation in the case and recording statements of witnesses and accused,” said DSP Atul Yadav said. In her complaint, the woman has alleged that on July 7, she was kidnapped and raped by her former live-in partner Akhil Tomar and his three friends in a moving car. She has also accused them of inserting a bottle into her vagina before dumping her in Noida Sector 62.

However, according to police, there are some contradictions in the woman’s statements. “As per her medical examination, no internal injury has been found, which contradicts her statements on the bottle assault,” another police official investigating the case said. “When Akhil’s mobile phone was examined, it was found that he was in East Delhi at the time of the alleged incident, instead of Ghaziabad and Noida as claimed by the woman,” he had said.

The woman lived-in with Akhil Tomar for over a year and had also lodged a complaint against him for assault in January. Police said the woman had earlier registered a rape case against a teacher at Sahibabad PS, which turned out to be untrue. The woman has now made the same teacher her ‘writer’ in the rape case of July 7.
