The Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the murder of a man with the arrest of his wife and her paramour who killed him when he objected to their illicit relationship.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South West district RA Sanjeev said a police team arrested Arjun Ekka (26) from Sundergarh in Odisha for killing Babu lal. Babu lal’s wife Sumitra was also arrested from Delhi.
On the early morning of June 20, the police got information about a person Babu lal having injuries on his neck lying unconscious in front of V-10 in Old Nangal. A police team went to the spot and found Babu lal’s body.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that the body was shifted from the original place of murder as rigour mortis had already set in, said the DCP.
Police said Sumitra was thoroughly interrogated and she confessed to her involvement in the murder with the help of her lover Arjun Ekka. She was arrested and a team was dispatched to Sundergarh in Odisha from where Arjun was also arrested.
Sumitra had come to Delhi in search of job from Sundergarh and had married Babu lal in 2009. Before her marriage, she had friendship with Arjun Ekka who belonged to her native place, the DCP said.
Arjun also came to Delhi last year and started working as a security guard. He lived with the couple posing as Sumitra’s relative. His activities were suspected by Babu lal and he objected to his wife’s relationship with him and threw Arjun out of his home. The duo then decided to eliminate Babu lal.
On the night of June 19, Sumitra called Arjun when Babu lal was in an inebriated condition. Arjun killed him with her help. They then dumped the body on the road, added the officer. The murder weapon, a mobile phone and blood stained clothes were recovered by the police as evidences in the case.
