A female lawyer who came with her father and other family members at NSCI club located near the Supreme Court in lutyen’s Delhi was allegedly molested and manhandled after an argument broke out over the payments with the club’s staff members on Wednesday late night. A case of assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) has been registered at Tilak Marg Police station.
The incident came to fore when the police received a call of brawl around 12.30 am from the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) at Mathura Road. According to the complaint, lodged on the basis of a written statement by Gulshan Mahajan, a businessman, the staff members misbehaved with his daughter and manhandled him over the payment issue.
Mahajan said he had come to have dinner at club on Wednesday night. When they were about to move after the payment, a staff member pointed out to them that they had not paid the complete bill. “Mahajan requested them that he will pay the left amount on next morning. On this an argument broke out which soon turned into scuffle,” said a police officer adding his daughter who is a lawyer was manhandled by the staff members.
A family member called up the police and informed them about the matter. A team led by an inspector reached on spot and controlled over the situation. Police said they have lodged a case and started the investigation. “The CCTV footage has been collected to ascertain the exact sequence of the incident and further investigations are on,” added the officer.
