The Delhi Police has arrested a woman for allegedly murdering her husband in North-East Delhi’s Shahtri Park.
On May 16, the police received a call from Jag Parvesh Chand Hospital saying that a man named Salim was brought to the hospital by his wife in an unconscious state and was declared brought dead.
Woman first tried to mislead the police by lodging a complaint against Gulbahar, alias Gullu, and his associate Asif of the murder. Following her complaint, a case of murder was registered against them and the investigation began.
Suspect Asif and Gulbahar were then interrogated by the police. But on questioning of the suspects, it was found that both were innocent.
Then the police conducted enquiries with the locals and found that Salim and his wife had bitter relations and Salim used to beat her regularly on petty issues. Therefore, the suspicion turned towards the wife of the deceased. Upon interrogation, she confessed to the crime.
“She told the police that her husband used to beat her regularly over petty issues and she was fed up with the illicit relationship of her husband with another woman. She wanted to become free from the atrocities of her husband and hence decided to kill him. On May 16 night, she mixed some intoxicating substance in his meal and strangulated him when he was unconscious using her dupatta. The dupatta used to strangulate the deceased has been recovered from the accused,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, north-east district, Dr Ajit Kumar Singla.
