A 28-year-old woman killed her two-year-old daughter before committing suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her house in West Delhi’s Rajauri Garden area on Monday evening. Police said the woman was depressed due to the metal illness of her daughter. Police have also recovered a suicide note.
The body of Vidhi Chaddha and her daughter Gunoor was spotted by her husband Pradeep after he came home after work on Monday night. Gunoor was suffering from asthma as well as metal illness and Vidhi was under depression as her daughter was not recovering despite the treatment, police said.
Her husband came around 9 pm and found the door of the house locked from inside. Despite repeated attempts when no response came, he peeped through the window and found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan. He informed the neighbours and also called the police. The body of her daughter was on bed.
During investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the room. The note which is written in Hindi reads, “I am depressed due to the suffering of my daughter. I am tired of seeing her like this.”
