Two youths were arrested on Thursday for allegedly gang-raping a 22-year-old woman at gunpoint in Uttam Nagar.

The accused have been identified as Mohit and Vikas Dahiya. A case has been registered against them on charges of rape and criminal intimidation at the Uttam Nagar Police Station. A third accused, Sanju, is absconding. According to police, the three accused are property dealers who trapped the victim and her husband. One of the accused, reportedly, called the couple to their office on the pretext of giving them work.

Police said that after meeting the couple at a Metro Station in Noida, the accused drove them to Uttam Nagar in a Santro. “When they arrived at Mohan Garden, Mohit and Vikas sent the victim’s husband to Sanju’s room for an ‘interview’. The other two in the meantime raped the woman, and threatened to kill her husband if she made any noise. She later narrated the incident to her husband while they were returning home, and a complaint was filed at the Uttam Nagar Police Station,” an officer said.

“The victim’s husband works at a photography shop in Faridabad. The couple had met the accused in Mussoorie when they had gone for a vacation three months ago. Her husband kept in touch with them,” a senior officer said. Police officers apprehended the two accused in a raid and said that all three accused were residents of the Najafgarh area. “A raid was conducted in the evening, and Mohit and Vikas were arrested. Further investigations are in progress,” a senior officer said.
