A 36-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a moving car in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area late on Wednesday night. A case of gang-rape under Section 376 (G) of IPC has been registered at Vasant Kunj police station and the three men have been arrested.
According to police, the incident took place around 10 pm when the victim, a resident of Rangpuri Pahadi area, was at a bus stand near Spinal Injuries Centre when two men in a white Škoda car sidled up to her. The accused in the car have been identified as Jitender (38) and Jai Bhagwan (28). The victim alleged they forcefully pulled her inside the car and made her sniff something suspicious after which she lost consciousness. They then took turns to rape her. Their friend Ajay (28) too joined them and raped the woman. The victim was dumped near Andheria Mod area and threatened of dire consequences. The three men are residents of Nangal Devat area. Following the incident, a PCR call was received around 12.45 am. Medical examination of the victim confirmed rape.
Police officials revealed that there are some contradictions in the woman’s statement. “The accused revealed the woman got into the car willy-nilly. No matter what the version is, she has been sexually assaulted and the accused have been arrested,” said a police official. The accused were produced at a city court and sent to judicial custody. The car has been seized; it belonged to Jai Bhagwan. The three accused men are cab drivers working in and around Indira Gandhi Airport.
