Body of a 30-year-old woman was found with her throat slit at her residence in outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area on Wednesday night. According to police, the victim, Pushpa, a housewife, also had several injuries on her arms and near her chest.

The incident was reported at around 9:30 pm when Pushpa's husband returned home and found the house locked. He rang the bell but no one responded. He then tried calling his wife, but she did not answer, said police.

He waited at his landlord's house for over an hour. When she did not return, he got worried and went out to look for her. When he was climbing down, he saw the light inside his house was switched on. Thinking that Pushpa may have returned, he rang the bell again but no one responded.

Finding a window ajar, he then peeped inside and saw Pushpa's legs. "He said he panicked and broke the window to get inside. When he went inside the room, he found Pushpa dead. Her throat was slit and body was soaked in blood. He then raised an alarm and also made a PCR call," a senior police officer said.

The police team reached the spot and took the woman to the hospital. Her body was then sent for a postmortem.

Police suspect the involvement of an insider in the case. Police said they suspect the murder to be a case of an extra marital affair.

Police said they have accessed records from her phone to see who she spoke to last along with her chat history.

Police have also asked some of her relatives and her husband to join the probe. Their statement will also be recorded. Police have also accessed CCTV footage from the area and it is being analysed. A case of murder has been registered.
