After her husband died of heart attack on Friday, a 36-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off her eight-floor apartment in Sector-120 of Noida on Tuesday.

The reason of the suicide is suspected to be trauma that the deceased identified as Menika Aggrawal had faced after her husband, Anurag Aggrwal, who was a software engineer in Tech Mahindra and an IIT-Roorkee graduate, died in hospital due to heart attack, said police, adding that Anurag was admitted in Fortis Hospital.

The couple is survived with six-year-old daughter. After admitting her husband in the hospital, Menika left her daughter in her neighbour’s home and by the time she was informed about his death, she lost her control, said Deputy Superintendent, Noida Anoop Singh.

She wasn’t accompanied by any family member so she left the hospital and went to her apartment around 3 PM after which she is alleged to have taken this step.

The incident was reported to police by apartment’s security guard and as soon as they reached the spot, they rushed Menika to hospital where she was declared brought dead, added Singh.

“We have sent the body for postmortem and informed the deceased’s family members.” DS said. Anurag hailed from Haridwar and was staying with her wife in Prateek laurial apartment in rent for some time now, police said. Menika, who hailed from Jhashi was a house wife.
