With city on spin cycle, BJP & AAP rinse dirty laundry in public

The war of words between the Delhi units of BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over claims on the ongoing cleanliness spin cycle in the national Capital further intensified on Friday.

While the Delhi BJP claimed that the pictures AAP was sending of garbage include places belonging to the Assembly constituencies of the two former Ministers in the AAP Government, AAP hits back saying it was the BJP which rules the Delhi civic bodies. This comes a day after the BJP sent some pictures of dirty public toilets in New Delhi Assembly constituency to its MlA Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of AAP.

The BJP’s onslaught was in response to the campaign initiated by the AAP in which they were collecting photographs of garbage and sending them to the BJP ruled three civic bodies which they the party claimed is essentially responsible for cleaning Delhi. The BJP highlighted that the very pictures which the AAP had sent highlighting poor state of sanitation in Mangolpuri which is the Assembly constituency of former AAP Minister Rakhi Birla and that of places in Sheikh Sarai, an area represented by Somnath Bharti, former law Minister in the Kejriwal Government. Hitting at what the BJP termed as “great difference between prophesy and practice” of AAP, the BJP said, “On the one hand, AAP is weakening the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan by issuing photos and media releases and other, Kejriwal is silent on the photos of dirty toilets in his own constituency. The photos issued by AAP today include photos from the Assembly constituency of two former Ministers of AAP,” said the

saffron party. The BJP also said that the sanitation campaign in Delhi might take some time as it is a “continuous process” and the sanitation employees will make it successful.
