Accusing the Centre of focusing on winning elections instead of controlling Covid-19, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leader and MLA from Rajinder Nagar Constituency of Delhi Raghav Chadha said on Sunday that the BJP is evidently preaching the slogan-“Na Doori Na Davai, Bas Vote Ke Liye Dhilai hi Dhilai”.
Highlighting the worrisome Covid-19 situation, Chadha mentioned that while India has breached the two lakh mark the BJP is focussing on conducting gigantic rallies with huge crowds in West Bengal.
“Winning elections and collecting votes is their sole motive and the BJP has nothing to do with the people of India and their lives,” he said. He also claimed that In West Bengal, the BJP is promising a ‘double-engine sarkaar’ while not giving even a ‘single engine’ to COVID management.
Chadha further said that the Delhi government is working relentlessly round-the-clock to contain the outbreak of covid-19 and putting our own lives at risk to save the lives of people of Delhi and their families too. All our party workers, MLAs, and the entire government are shedding its blood and sweat to fight the pandemic. However, an extremely grim and disappointing picture is also being witnessed amongst us, he said.
“While on one hand the pandemic has claimed thousands of lives is infecting lakhs of people each day on the other hand, in the assembly elections of West Bengal and Assam, the BJP under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy conducting gigantic rallies and road-shows that could be potential super-spreader events with their massive crowds,” he said.
“With the pace at which people are contracting the virus and mortality ratio increasing each day, the speed with which the BJP is campaigning in these states has also been on an ever-increasing momentum. The star-campaigners, including PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have been rapidly campaigning and electioneering non-stop,” he added.
“The BJP must stand together with the people of India in fighting the pandemic. The way in which these crowds are emerging in rallies and road-shows which are a contributor to super-spreader events is extremely disappointing. This poses greater questions in the minds of people: is the BJP-led centre not concerned even a little bit about the lives of people of India? The pace at which people are contracting the virus is directly proportional to the speed at which these rallies by the BJP are increasing,” he added.
