A day after taking over as Commissioner of Police Gurugram, the 1996-batch senior IPS officer KK Rao promised the people that police will reduce response time and the force will be people friendly.
“We are working towards augmenting the facilities at “Dial 100” and more lines will be added into the Police Control Room to reach the victim at the earliest”, said Rao.
“My priority would be to ensure grievance redressal in a “speedy, professional and transparent manner”. Guurgram Police will develop better coordination with adjoining States and districts to curb heinous crimes. We'll make Gurugram a safer place to live” said the police chief on the second day of his new responsibility.
Taking a serious note on excessive duty hours and work pressure on the lower and upper subordinates, the new police chief said, “To reduce pressure, the work will be divided equally among the rank and the file as that would fetch better result towards redresses of complaints. The work pressure on the police personnel will be reduced within next few weeks”, he said.
Rao has a long experience in active policing before being posted at the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram. He has served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in 14 districts of the state.
“Some people think Gurugram Police works under pressure. Please remove that misunderstanding. The department will work without any pressure. Our top propriety is to maintain law and order in the district,” Rao said during his interaction with the media on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, soon after taking charge, Rao called a formal meeting of all officers DCPs, ACPs and SHOs. Going by his address to them, there is unlikely to be a drastic change in the police's approach towards the criminals, officers who attended the meeting said.
“We have got 1,000 new personnel to bolster the force. The police presence on the city roads will act as a deterrent to criminals and ensure the security of women and senior citizens in the city,” Rao, said.
Taking a serious note on the traffic management system in the city he said, “Traffic Police will take strict actions against the traffic violators. We can frequently see that the offenders used to park their vehicles illegal on service lanes which cause a jam problem across the city. Will give only two times warning to these offenders and after this vehicles will be impounded”, the police chief, said.
“He further said that, “We look forward to following an Open Door Policy. He also promised “an easy access to the office of Commissioner of Police”.
“We have issued a strict warning to the pubs, bars and restaurants owners not to open their establishments beyond the prescribed time period. The police team on time to time will conduct search operations to prevent illegal activities on the busy MG Road and Golf course roads”, Rao added.
“To prevent crime against women and minors is one of our top propriety. We will increase night patrolling the concern Deputy Commissioner of police (DCPs) will keep an eye on their respective areas,” he said.
He also urged to the residents of Gurugram that they should complete police verifications process of their domestic help and tenants. “It will also help the police to reduce petty crimes”, he added.
