Wildlife in crisis

Published on:

There is huge chunk of green area falling in Gautam Buddh Nagar district which is habitat to common birds like the peacock, sparrow, Sarus Crane, penguin, eagle, parrots and nigh tangle.

Part from there several rare species, including Baikal Teal, Baer’s Pochard, Sociable lapwing, Indian Skimmer, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, lesser Adjutant, Bristled Grassbird and Finn’s Weaver also found at different locations. Nilgai, Indian mongoose, blacknaped hare, jackals and black buck are other animals which are Noida’s habitants. Vultures and reptiles are also spotted here. The region comprises a bird sanctuary and few wetlands which are habitat of wildlife. However, considering the rapid urbanisation over the years, there is significant drop in population of these birds and animals.
