Ghaziabad Police slapped cases against the Members of the legislative Assembly (MlAs) of Rashtriya lok Dal (RlD) and some 5,000 unidentified supporters for indulging in rioting and hooliganism at Murad Nagar water treatment plant. The RlD activists and members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) were protesting altering 12 Tughlaq Road bungalow into a memorial for former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. They were also agitated since the authorities at New Delhi had snapped water and power supply to the bungalow occupied by RlD chief Ajit Singh.
A police official said that a case has been lodged under Sections 147, 148, 149, 151, 153, 186, 323, 307, 336, 353, 405, 406 and section 7 of Criminal Amendment Act and Sections 3, 4 of Public Property Act against Modi Nagar MlA Sudesh Sharma, Khair MlA Bhagwati Prasad and Chhaprauli MlA Veer Pal Rathi and 31 others whose names figure in the First Information Report (FIR).
Earlier on Friday, Ajit Singh visited the hospital to meet his party MlAs. Talking to media persons, he said, “It is not the issue of vacating bungalow but is the issue of farmers’ sentiments towards farmer leader Chaudhary Charan Singh.” Pointing a finger at the impartiality of the Government, the RlD chief asked why electricity and water supply to the bungalows of Shahnawaz Husain, Yashwant Sinha and Ananth Kumar not snapped.
He further said that he has assured the Government that he would vacate the bungalow after shradh is over on September 25, but that the Government was biased and wanted to humiliate him and the nation’s farmers.Talking to the media outside the hospital, Ajit Singh said police was barbaric with the peaceful agitators.
Instead of initiating dialogue with the farmer leaders, Ghaziabad Police fired rounds. He said he would raise the issue with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at the earliest.
