Whoever becomes l-G, tussle with AAP Govt will continue: Manoj Tiwari

Published on:

A day after the resignation of Delhi's lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari said the party respects Jung's personal decision to step down, but whoever becomes the new l-G, the tussle between the l-G and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government will continue as the latter “does not follow constitutional propriety”.

The new l-G will work to uphold the Constitution and various rules of governance in Delhi, he said.

“A Government which does not follow the Constitution and adopts autocratic attitude will inevitably clash with the l-G whoever he may be,” said Tiwari while addressing the media.

Kejriwal has turned Delhi into a centre of “devious politics” engaging in allegations and counter allegations “without doing any work” on the ground, Tiwari alleged.

“There is no work on the ground. Each day, he levels allegations on the Prime Minister and the l-G. I think, now Delhi wants to know from him about his promises of CCTV cameras, new buses, beds in hospitals and schools,” said BJP State president.

While reacting on Delhi unit chief Ajay Makan's charge that there was some deal between Narendra Modi and Kejriwal behind the resignation of Jung, Tiwari termed congress a “deal baaj” party.

“Maken belongs to Congress that is a deal baaj party. They had coal deal, 2G deal so if he sees deal behind everything, what can we do about it,” he said.

Also, Tiwari said Delhi BJP workers will celebrate former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday on December 25 by performing voluntary sanitation works and creating awareness about cashless transactions.

The day will be celebrated as Swachhata-Shuchita Divas (sanitation-good governance day) and around 25,000 BJP workers will participate in the day-long programmes on December 25, he added.

The party leaders and workers will carry out voluntary sanitation works at public places all over the city from 9 am to 12 noon. They will also engage in an awareness drive to promote cashless transactions, he said.

The good governance example set by Vajpayee and being followed now by Prime Minister Modi will also be highlighted on the occasion. Fruits and blankets will be distributed at hospitals, Tiwari said.
