The Delhi Jal Board (DJB)’s water tankers are not able to reach on time to the people, who are battling water woes. According to the residents, even the DJB helpline numbers are not working. People are having a hard time for the past five days to quench their thirst. On Wednesday, the entire West Delhi and South West Delhi was dry without a single drop of water supply from the DJB.

Preeti Kumari, a resident of Uttam Nagar said despite calling for DJB water tanker several times since Monday, it has not arrived till Wednesday evening. “Since Monday, I was continuously calling DJB office for water tanker. However, the official said the water tanker will reach within two hours, but has not reached till today (Wednesday),” said Preeti Kumari — a housewife.

Most of the DJB helpline numbers for availing water tankers are not working, lamented some residents. Dwarka resident Shashi Mathur complained that despite calling the helpline number several times, he did not get any response. “I called on the available numbers such as 011-23360683, 1916 and other number as well. None of them are responding in our need of hour. Many a times these numbers are coming ‘busy’,” said Shashi Mathur.

The situation in South Delhi is no better. Those who have borewell at their places are using its water. Neeta Tyagi, a resident of Shanti Niketan said, “The situation is so grim that I don’t even feel like going to office. Without water, how can somebody surviveIJ”

Areas hit in terms of piped water supply are Vasant Vihar, Vasant Enclave, Westend, Anand Niketan, Shanti Niketan, lado Sarai, Sadh Nagar, Airport Authority of India, Palam, Dwarka, Raj Nagar, Mahavir Enclave I, II and III, Indra Park, Sitapuri, Uttam Nagar group of colonies, Dabri, Mansa Ram Park, Matiyala,

Baprola, Madhu Vihar, Janak Puri, Vikas Puri, lajwanti Garden, Naraina, Inderpuri, Keshavpur, Kirari, etc.

While many people filled their buckets from the treated water supply from nearby
