The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is soon going to install water ATMs, decentralised Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and rooftop solar power plants at various locations falling under its jurisdiction.
The projects were approved in the council meeting on Monday chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and attended by NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar.
For water ATMs providing drinking water to the public on nominal charges tey are likely to be functional within three months — the civic body has identified 73 locations where these will be installed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
On the other hand, ten locations have been identified for the construction of decentralised STPs with establishment of Solar Rooftop Solar Power Panels at NDMC Sub-Stations and Municipal Building. Giving the details about the STPs, Naresh Kumar said, “The NDMC is going to invite reputed firms for selection as concessioner developers to develop 100 to 500 KlD capacity sewage treatment plants including operation and maintenance of 12 years.”
In the meeting, it was also decided that the grid connected Solar Rooftop Panels would be constructed at various locations of NDMC Sub-Stations and Municipal Buildings. “For this, the NDMC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Solar Energy Corporation of India for generation of solar energy in NDMC area and 23 locations of Electric Sub-Stations and 13 locations of Municipal Buildings have been found suitable with a total Solar Panel Install Capacity of 1495 KWp,” said Kumar.
It may be noted that the NDMC is already executing roof top solar panels on NDMC School buildings that are expected to generate 1.5 Mega Watt Solar Energy.
