South Delhi Municipal Corporation has lodged a complaint against the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) over the building collapse incident in West Delhi’s Vishnu Garden area on Saturday. Holding DJB responsible for not clearing the water that made the foundation of the building weak, the Corporation is trying its best to redeem its image by passing the buck to DJB.
Chairman Standing Committee of South Delhi Municipal Corporation Radhay Shayam Sharma said building collapse in Vishnu Garden Area is very unfortunate. He said we have constituted an inquiry under Additional Commissioner concerned to look into the facts and submit report regarding reasons and roles of departments for lapses.
The Chairman Standing Committee said we have already suspended three officials — AK Meena, Executive Engineer; AK Mittal, Assistant Engineer; and Arvind Kumar, Junior Engineer of ward — for negligence in duty for the element unauthorised construction but the enquiry report of Additional Commissioner concerned will provide actual causes for collapse of building alongwith responsibility of corporation officials or role of any other department’s official.
However, SDMC Mayor Subhash Arya said that the building collapsed in Vishnu Garden due to accumulation of water in foundation of building due to water sewer line installed by the DJB by using JCB machines two months back in the area.
