The Ghaziabad parliamentary constituency registered a 59.8 per cent average polling percentage amid complaints of booth rigging by Samajwadi Party (SP) workers and bogus voting and missing of genuine names from the voters list by BJP candidate General VK Singh, former chief of Army Staff.

Confirming the polling percentage, the Ghaziabad district magistrate SVS Ranga Rao said, “The polling is continuing peacefully in all the polling stations. There a small rift among the BJP and AAP workers in loni over a defective EVM, which was replaced instantly.”

Meanwhile, the BJP candidate former chief of the Army Staff General VK Singh alleged that the Samajwadi Party workers captured the polling station in Dhaulana and two Samajwadi Party leaders threatened his booth agents in Khoda to shoot him dead. Both the incidents have been reported to the Election Commission.

In addition to these incidents over 50,000 voters were found missing in the voters list who had been waiting in the queue with proof of residence and identity. The former Army Chief was speaking to the media after the election was over at 7.00 pm Thursday at the party office in Kavi Nagar. He revealed the names of the Samajwadi Party leaders as Binta Yadav and Rajpal Yadav who threatened his party agent Amar Chand Thekedar.

Regarding the Dhaulana booth capturing incident, the former General said that the normal election process could be restored only after he complained to the observer. But the polling station remained under the control of the Samajwadi Party workers for more than an hour who cast votes according to their choice keeping Government officials hostage.
