The poster war has started in Delhi with just a few days left for the civic polls. leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Monday met the State Election Commissioner and demanded strict action against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its convener Arvind Kejriwal, for putting objectionable posters, banners and hoardings throughout Delhi, showing smiling face of Kejriwal and a frowning photo of Gupta.
“These posters, banners and hoardings say ‘MCD ki bagdor kiskoIJ Kejriwal or Vijender Gupta (BJP)’ he said.
Describing his photo in the poster as a degrading move to defame him, Gupta demanded an immediate strict legal action against the AAP. “lakhs of such posters installed all over Delhi must be removed forthwith as this openly violates the Model Code of Conduct,” he said.
Taking cognisance on the matter, the State Election Commission has promised to issue a notice to the AAP and Kejriwal. Gupta also added that Kejriwal was deliberately trying to hatch a conspiracy by repeatedly questioning the credibility and fairness of the Commission, a constitutional authority, to defame it in India and abroad.
“Under this conspiracy, they are repeating questions of messed up EVMs to call elections in India suspicious. Their indirect intention is to strengthen the anti-national forces by questioning the fairness of the elections being held in J&K and other border States of the country,” he said further.
