In a rare gesture, the father of a rape victim has offered to felicitate the Delhi Police team that arrested alleged rapist Shiv Kumar Yadav. The father of the victim wants to give Rs1 lakh in cash to the Delhi Police team as a mark of appreciation.
The father of the 27-year-old MNC executive, who was sexually assaulted by driver of the US-based cab service provider Uber, called Delhi Police senior officers on Friday morning, thanked them for nabbing the accused and wants to felicitate the team with Rs1 lakh.
The father of the victim, who earlier worked in Japan and recently shifted to Delhi and is working in a private company, expressed his desire to give a reward of Rs1 lakh to the lower ranks officials who nabbed
the accused. He also thanked
the police for their support to her daughter while she was in distress.
The police officers, however, declined to accept the money saying, “It is our duty.” Showing gratitude to the policemen, the victim’s father again expressed to donate the money for the police welfare fund. But the officers declined to accept it and thanked him for acknowledging their hard work. A senior Delhi police officer said, “Never in my 30 years of policing, any rape victim father or relative have appreciated the force in such a manner.”
