The life of employee of prominent sweet shop situated in New Delhi could have been saved had his employers rushed him to hospital in their car on time. Satender Singh (31) was left unattended in the pool of blood for 20 minutes after he was shot at by private security guard Neeraj Kumar on Tuesday late evening. Neeraj got annoyed as the victim took time to serve him jalebis.

After the preliminary enquiry, the fact came to light that the owners of Bangal Food situated on Bangla Sahib Road near Gole Market refused to take the critically injured employee in his car despite repeated pleadings by the victim’s younger brother. However, four of their cars were parked outside the sweet shop. No one came to Satender’s rescue or co-workers did not display alacrity in taking the profusely bleeding Satender who succumbed to his injuries in RMl Hospital on late Tuesday night.

Satender had been working for Bangla Foods for the last 20 years. For around 20 minutes, the younger brother of the victim  sought help from passersby too but none stopped to help. The neglect on the part of eatery shop owners and onlookers resulted to the death of the victim.

Sonu Singh (28), Satender’s younger brother, was working as a confectioner for the last three years and was present at the time of incident. “There was a panic situation after hearing the gunshots, every one started running. I immediately rushed and held my brother who had collapsed on the ground. I requested all of them for help, but no one came forward. I asked my employers — Raj Kumar and Praveen Kumar — to take him in their car to a nearby hospital but they also refused to help. I asked them to send their drivers to the hospital, but they didnot pay a heed. I tried to stop auto-rickshaw but they have not stopped to help. I was pleading everyone, but no one came to help,” he added.

Sonu said, “After 20 minutes, I have stopped one auto-rickshaw and went to lady Hardinge Hospital and later they shifted my brother to RMl Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.”

Three customers, including the accused Neeraj were standing in a queue and waiting for their orders. Suddenly, Neeraj got angry and started screaming. One of the salesmen asked him to be calm but he refused to budge.

On this, Satender intervened and advised him to give him sometime for making jalebi. But Neeraj started arguing with him. “He threatened my brother that he will shoot him if he did not serve him immediately. My brother asked him to behave. The accused left the shop only to be back with a gun in his hand,” Singh said, adding that later he shot my brother from a very close range. The killer was later rounded by the passersby and handed him over to the police

Satender Singh, who is survived by his wife and two children — a two-year-old son and five-year-old daughter, was a native of Madhya Pradesh. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to his family on Wednesday afternoon.
