BJP councillor Veena Virmani was elected as first woman chairperson of the party-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) standing committee on Monday. Soon after taking charge, Virmani said that she will focus on making Corporation self reliant.
Nisha Mann was also elected unanimously as Deputy Chairman of Standing Committee.
leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta who was also present on the occasion said that Standing Committee is the most important body of the corporation that works towards development and improvement of civic services. He further said that Delhi Government is regularly cutting the Budget of the corporation, which is hampering the economic condition of the corporation.
