VAT on jet fuel up by 5%

The Arvind Kejriwal Government on Tuesday issued a notification hiking VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from 20 to 25 per cent in the national Capital. The hike is expected to impact the domestic and international air travel as tickets will become costlier. As a result, all domestic aircraft buying jet fuel from Delhi will have to pay five per cent extra VAT, which experts believe might compel passengers to pay more for tickets from Wednesday. Top sources, however, claimed that Delhi still has cheaper ATF as compared to Tamil Nadu and other States. Tamil Nadu charges 28 per cent as VAT from ATF.
