Varsity worker posts suicide note on FB before hanging self

An employee of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) committed suicide by hanging himself at his Chinaut Colony residence after posting the suicide note on social networking site Facebook late on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Naveen Arora (30) and was posted as a Data Entry Operator (DEO) at the university for over two years.

Preliminary investigation suggested that Naveen was mentally upset for some time due to a dispute with his wife, whom he mentioned in the suicide note, police said. The incident came to light when one of Naveen’s Facebook friends called his kin after reading the note. He had first tried contacting Naveen, but when he failed to do so he called a relative.

The relative then went to Naveen’s room and found him hanging from a ceiling fan. They immediately informed police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to

PGIMS for a post-mortem examination. Police said Naveen got married some months ago and had been living separate from his parents, in another part of the same house, since marriage.

In his suicide note, Naveen wrote: “I am so upset with my married life that I have no other option but to commit suicide in order to get rid of it. My tolerance level has crossed all limits, hence, I am ending my life and I don’t know who is responsible for that.” Police said statements of Naveen’s kin were recorded to confirm facts mentioned in the suicide note. “The body was handed over to his family after an autopsy on Thursday noon,” said police.
