Upload details of students on the breadline or no handouts: DoE to schools

Published on:

In a strongly-worded letter sent to private unaided recognised schools of Delhi, the Directorate of Education (DoE) on Wednesday said if schools fail to upload the details of students from economically weaker sections of society (EWS) on the website, they will not be reimbursed Rs1,290 per student as per the sanction. The letter claimed that only 427 schools submitted their data/claims as against 1,700 schools. Additionally, the Government issued a circular to all private unaided schools conducting nursery admissions saying that they must form a District Admission Monitoring Committee, which should be made effectively functional immediately to cater to parents or guardians of EWS students.

This committee will be to handle the grievances of the parents or guardians of the EWS category children. The directorate in its letter said, “Their grievances must be addressed on priority and immediate appropriate action must be taken so as to ensure speedy redressal. The District Admission Monitoring Committee shall maintain a register or database of grievances and the information should also be made available on the website of the Directorate of Education.” Further, the directorate asked these committees to put up a help desk during office hours, manned by two well-conversant officials of the district or zone, to facilitate parents or guardians regarding admissions under the EWS category. The help desk shall be functional till the admission process is closed.
