A senior official of the Uttar Pradesh administration is likely to visit Kadalpur village to investigate the matter of suspension of SDM of Greater Noida, Durga Shakti Nagpal. The State Government on Thursday ordered an inquiry a day after Nagpal filed her reply to the chargesheet served on her. The Government has asked Principal Secretary (Home), RM Srivastava, to conduct an inquiry into all aspects of the case threadbare.
It was stated that the decision was taken after detecting differences in the reply and Government records regarding the ownership of the land where part of the religious edifice was demolished in the village. The suspended IAS had filed a report saying that the disputed land belonged to Gram Sabha while Government records stated otherwise, informed a source.
Sources also said that Nagpal, in her reply, claimed that she acted under the instructions of a senior officer while the Government report suggested that she acted of her own volition. Speculations are rife that her suspension may be revoked soon following her reported meeting with Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav to explain her point of view on the demolition of the structure.
Meanwhile, talking to media, the Principal Secretary said, “I have been verbally asked to conduct an inquiry into the case though I am still awaiting formal orders in this regard.”
Meanwhile, the district administration and local Investigation Unit (lIU) of Gautam Buddh Nagar have said that they have still not been informed about the visit by the Government. “We have not received any order yet in this regard. We will assist him (the Principal Secretary) on his inspection when he visits the village,” said Rakesh Chauhan, Additional Information Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
