An honest constable who refused to be the part of a conspiracy to bump off Ajay Katara has put the focus on controversial Western Uttar Pradesh politician DP Yadav. It was Ajay Katara whose testimony led to the conviction of Vikas Yadav, the son of DP Yadav in the sensational Nitish Katara murder case. Vishal Yadav the cousin of Vikas too was convicted and both are serving life term in jail.
Now Ghaziabad Police is investigating the statement of the constable and three other police men posted in Ajay Katara’s security to ascertain whether there was indeed a conspiracy hatched by DP Yadav to get Ajay Katara killedIJ It is alleged that Yadav had promised to pay Rs 50 lakh of rupees to each constable posted at Katara’s Ghaziabad residence.
The police said the three security personnel of UP Police engaged in Ajay Katara’s security have filed complaints annexed with affidavits before the Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural area that their colleague who is also part of security team to guard Ajay Katara had offered them Rs 1.5 crore if they helped in killing him. The three constables then decided to present themselves before SP (Rural). Constable Harun Ali claimed that he along with two other constables Ravi Kumar and Vivek Pal Singh were among the four security personnel provided to Ajay Katara. The fourth constable named Krishna Pal Singh Yadav was deputed in the team on January 4, 2013.
According to the statements of the three constables, the very first day of his duty Constable Yadav asked to help him in eliminating Ajay Katara while they were travelling to Babugarh in Hapur and Mehrauli in Ghaziabad. Constable Yadav had reportedly boasted that he has managed to get the posting with the help of DP Yadav.
The three constables then decided to apprise the SP, Rural about the development as they felt that in the event of any thing untoward happening, they will have to face the music. The constable furnished sworn affidavits before the SP in this regard. The three policemen, who had been with Ajay Katara, reportedly informed the SP, Rural that they were scared after getting to know the conspiracy. The trio had saved the life of Ajay Katara at least on 10 occasions during last six years.
“I have asked the Circle Officer (CO) of the local Intelligence Unit (lIU) to go into the allegations and conduct an enquiry in this regard”, the SP said. Meanwhile, DP Yadav denied the allegations that he was behind the conspiracy to kill Ajay Katara.
