A 25-year-old Class-IV employee at Akshardham temple committed suicide by hanging himself at the staff quarters inside the temple complex in the wee hours on Friday morning.

According to the police the incident took place late in the early hours of Friday when the deceased, identified as Jaimeen Bhavtar, was found hanging in the staff quarters inside the temple.

He was rushed to lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors tried to revive him but failed to do so. Jaimeen worked voluntarily as a sweeper at the temple.

He hails from Ahmedabad and was working at the temple for more than three years. He was first spotted hanging by the other employees who immediately informed the police. The body has been sent for post-mortem and his family members have arrived in the Capital.

Janak Bhai, PRO of Akshardham temple, claimed a failed love life as the reason behind his death.

“As far as I know he was in love with a girl in Ahmedabad whom he longed to marry but she had refused to marry him. This could be the reason for the extreme step that he took. He was good at work and behaved cordially with everyone,” said Janak.
