The venue on the Yamuna floodpains where the Art of living’s World Culture Festival is to begin from March 11 to 13 is covered with dust and resembles a desert with no vegetation. But all these are not putting off visitors, who have started thronging the venue spread over 60 hactres even as preparations are going on for the grand spectacle.
Mayur Vihar resident Mohit Singh said while the organisers could have chosen a better place considering the stench, but he is excited about the event.
“The place really smells due to Yamuna and there is a lot of dust. But I believe one would get used to it once the spectacle of the event is unveiled. I am really looking forward to the main events and things may get better in the coming days,” he said.
On Wednesday, when The Pioneer visited the venue hundreds of cars were parked whose numbers are expected to increase to tens of thousands in the coming days. There was abundance of trucks, earth moving vehicles, generators and other electrical equipments lying all around the venue. While there are no concrete structures built to form the stage or other elements of the venue, large amount of metal is used as scaffolding.
However, the organisers are working hard to ensure cleanliness at the venue as multiple volunteer teams are formed to clear the site of any garbage left behind by the visitors who are expected to attend the event in lakhs.
