Uber, not the 'safest ride in the world'

Delhi Police tightened grip against the management of the Uber cab service after the investigating officer added section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for disobeying the Government order in the FIR registered at Sarai Rohilla police station. North district police had earlier registered a case under section 420/34 against the Uber management. Apart from facing the FIR, Uber will be challaned under Motor Vehicles Act too. Traffic Police also launched a drive to check drivers and documentation like Public Service Vehicle (PSV) badges, Registration Copies (RCs) and No Objection Certificates (NOCs). Delhi Traffic Police has launched rive to check the PSV badges and other relevant documents of all the drivers of private taxi services. According to the data available with Delhi Police, Uber, the US-based cab service, had around 4,000 drivers working for it in Delhi but the company had no idea whether any of them were verified by cops or had a PSV badge which is mandatory to drive any public transport vehicle in the city.
