In a strong rebuttal to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations against him over 1984 anti-Sikh riots probe, former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler shot off a letter to the CM on Tuesday asking him to refrain from outlandish claims for political propaganda.
Citing Kejriwal’s letter to the Prime Minister with a title, ‘Jagdish Tytler interfering with 1984 Anti-Sikh Riot Probe’’, Tytler stated in the letter, “Refrain from making such baseless, unverified and outlandish allegations against me.” It may be noted that Kejriwal had written to Prime Minster Narendra Modi on February 20, 2016 over Tytler’s interference in the probe.
Tytler wrote, “CBI, after Justice Nanavati Commission’s observation over my involvement, filed a closure report reiterating its stand that there is no evidence against me.”
Mentioning about several eyewitnesses forced to prop against him by his rivals, Tytler said, “In 2013, after Karkardooma Court directed further investigation on me on instance of some eyewitnesses propped up by persons inimical towards me, CBI again filed a closure report before additional chief metropolitan magistrate praying for the closure of the case stating that there is no evidence against me.”
Tytler mentioned about Abhishek Verma who gave statement against Tytler to CBI. Tytler said, “Karkardooma court had directed to investigate if he is lying or not and his lie-detection test was conducted in Tihar Jail, investigation of which is still going on.” Seemingly indicating that Kejriwal is not authorised to make a judgement, Tytler said, “The investigation is going on and the matter is therefore, sub judice and pending adjudication.”
Tytler further took a dig at Aam Aam Party’s Minister Jarnail Singh’s discussion over him in Delhi legislative Assembly and said, “I have approached honourable speaker of the Assembly to expunge the record pertaining to the discussion as the same was in violation of rules of procedure and conduct of business of NCT Delhi,” he said adding, “The said discussion ought not have been permitted that too against a person who is not a member of the Assembly.”
