Two Uzbekistani nationals were forced into prostitution and raped several times in the past. The sisters had flown to India in January on tourist visa and were residing in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. One of the girls is reportedly pregnant.
“The siblings arrived in India in January, 2013 on tourist visa. We reached the hospital after receiving the call. One of the sisters is said to be two months pregnant according to medical reports. The Embassy of Uzbekistan was also informed as there were communication problem,” said a police official.
The incident came to light when a call was made from Safdarjung Hospital authorities to Kotla Mubarakpur police station who informed them about two Uzbekistani nationals being admitted in the hospital. Officials from Kotla Mubarakpur police station later informed lajpat Nagar police station.
The girls revealed that they were forced into prostitution by a woman named Dikhuja (40) who they had met when they had reached the Capital in January. After reaching the Capital the girls were residing at a hotel in Paharganj. They met Dikhuja at the hotel who is also an Uzbekistani national.
She promised them job and took them to her rented apartment at Vasant Kunj. She made them consume a drink laced with sedatives and engaged them in sexual activities with other men. To make sure that the sisters don’t leave the country and escape she had kept their passports.
The girls were forced into prostitution. They somehow managed to escape on Sunday night and reached INA market by a cab. They met two strangers there and informed them about stomach pain and sickness who in turn informed the police and they were taken to Safdarjung Hospital by the police officials. Dikhuja has been arrested by the police and is being questioned. She has named more people involved in this and investigations are under process to arrest the others.
