The Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested two Myanmarese nationals on the charges of indulging in the smuggling of drugs. Crime Branch sleuths recovered drugs worth around `60 lakh. Identified as Tin lian Tuang and En lun Piu, aged 21, were apprehended from Shani Mandir on Dwarka Road on Monday.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said that the duo was arrested on a specific tip-off. Crime Branch sleuths recovered 50 kg pseudoephedrine tablets and 10,000 tripolidine pseudoephedrine tablets as also 375 injections of buprenorphine from their possession.

During interrogation, Tuang reportedly told police that his family migrated to Mizoram around 20 years back due to atrocities in his home land. Their family shifted to Delhi in 2009 and he started working in a tea stall in Janakpuri. He met a fellow Myanmarese in Hastsal who introduced him to Pu Fela. Tuang disclosed that Fela had contacts with pharmaceutical companies in Punjab, Himanchal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and he procured these medicines without bills. These medicines fetch a premium when sold in the North Eastern States and they had a well entrenched network that earned huge profit, an official said.

“He supplied these medicines to Mizoram and Myanmar. Fela used to send Tuang and Piu to his contacts from where they used to procure these tablets. This time also, they procured the recovered contraband from one Amit of Dehradun,” Yadav said.

Piu and his wife migrated to Delhi two years ago and he worked in a factory as helper in Hastsal. Tuang allegedly offered money for helping him in drug trade, he said.
