The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested six persons, including two constables and a woman, for running an extortion racket and prostitution ring in Rani Bagh area of northwest Delhi. A potential client was allegedly lured by the woman and her associates.

The woman tattled to her partners-in-crime who, as undercover cops, detained the unsuspecting individual and flogged him for alleged rape. The accused posed as Crime Branch officers demanding hush money of Rs 6 lakh, which after laboured negotiation was whittled down to Rs 3 lakh.

Three persons have been arrested — Vijay and two constables, Pawan and Manoj. One of the accused and his wife were also running a parallel sex racket from a house in Rani Bagh.

“The woman is still absconding. Manoj Kumar as the agent provocateur was employed at Mangolpuri police station as Chitha Munshi. Pawan Kumar was a constable at the Crime Branch. He has been arrested for charges of conspiracy and destruction of evidence,” said Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Ravindra Yadav.
