Two bridges to connect Noida, Faridabad

In order to provide better connectivity between Noida and Faridabad, Noida Authority has decided to construct two bridges near the border areas from the beginning of next year.

The bridges will come up in Sector 150 and Sector 168 for `1,200 crore. With the completion of the projects, commuters will be able to reach Haryana from Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad without passing through the national Capital.

According to senior officials of Noida Authority, they have completed feasibility study of both projects and have appointed consultant for preparing blueprints while tenders will be issued thereafter. Both projects are likely to be completed in two years as they are part of the Master Plan 2031 approved by Noida Authority.

The bridges will have three lanes from both sides and will be constructed over Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna River respectively. “One bridge will connect Sector 168 with Badoli village in Faridabad while other will be constructed on the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad route near Sector 150 and will cross the Expressway,” said a senior official.

AK Goel, Chief Maintenance Engineer of Noida Authority, said that the decision to improve better connectivity was taken considering increasing number of commuters between Noida and Faridabad.

“Since vehicular volume is increasing, the need of the hour is to connect both cities directly. The proposed bridges will be built on FNG and will connect roads between Sector 168 and 187A, while the second bridge will connect the road between Sector 149A and Sector 150 and Faridabad,” said Goel.

Currently, commuters coming from Ghaziabad, Hapur, Noida and Greater Noida have to cross Delhi to reach Faridabad. After these bridges come up, commuters will be able to reach Haryana without crossing Delhi.
